A major UK high street retailer has just created a new role due to internal restructuring. You will be responsible for setting KPI’s and their monitoring, the collation and review of financial data, and then presenting this information back to senior management. This is a vital role within the retail side of the business, as all promotional and marketing schemes will go through your department, and ultimately will be rolled out nationwide, if they prove to be financially sound. Due to the nature of the department, you will need to be able to respond to seasonal demands and competitor discounts rapidly to minimise the impact on the business. This is an exceptionally varied and demanding role with the added responsibility of being able to make a real impact on a major company’s figures. As you will be dealing with financial and non financial staff through to senior managers, you will require outstanding communication skills to explain complex finance models, in layman’s terms and the consequences of their decisions on not only theirs, but the groups performance. Ideally you will be qualified with exposure to a retail organisation, but personality and experience are more desirable. If you feel up to the challenge then this could be a very fulfilling next move.
